Peacebuilding Communications Intern
GNWP is a coalition of women and youth-led organizations from Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America, Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East, and the Arab world—mostly in conflictaffected countries—that are actively involved in advocacy and action for the effective implementation of the UN Security Council Resolutions (UNSCR) on Women and Peace and Security (WPS), Youth and Peace and Security (YPS), Sustaining Peace, Gender-responsive Humanitarian Action and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Description
The Peacebuilding Communications Intern will be required to:
● Follow GNWP’s Communications and Style including but not limited to using GNWP’s Style Manual, layout and audio visual guidelines and provide guidance to GNWP team members to ensure the GNWP’s communications and branding are consistent;
● Contribute to the updating and maintenance of GNWP’s website to ensure it is up-to-date and in line with its branding and communications guidelines;
● Support, with the Communications Team, the layout and publication of GNWP’s research and other knowledge products for wide dissemination online and in print;
● Coordinate, with the GNWP team members, the timely and quality production of audiovisual materials and other online content that cover local, national, regional and global activities;
● Monitor and track UN Security Council activities on WPS, YPS and Sustaining Peace;
Assist in preparations for the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on the Sustainable Development Goals in July 2025, the UN General Assembly in September 2025, and the anniversary of UNSCR 1325 in October 2025;
● Actively engage on social media platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn, showcasing GNWP’s work at the local, national, regional, and global advocacy engagements relevant to GNWP and its partners; and
● Contribute to maintaining an inclusive, safe and supportive workplace.
Qualifications
● Student in Media Studies, Mass Communication, Communication Arts, Journalism, Peace Journalism (ongoing or recent); or certification in social media and marketing;
● Interest in implementing global policies and international laws at the national, regional, and local levels and amplifying the voices of grassroots women at the global level;
● Graphic and video editing experience. Access to editing and subtitling software is preferred, but not required;
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, self-motivated and attention to detail and accuracy;
● Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills;
● Stellar writing and oral skills in English;
● Proficiency in Arabic, French and/or Spanish is an asset;
● Ability to keep deadlines and commitments;
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and
● A creative outlook, enthusiasm, and a fresh perspective.
