Donors and grantees alike want to grow the pie of funding for gender equality, improve the efficiency of programme design, and move away from the traditional power dynamics that once dominated the international development sector. But ongoing gaps, inequities, and patriarchal, white saviourist narratives still impact the way that programmes and grants are designed and distributed.
On the side of UNGA 76 back in 2021, Women in Dev gathered women leaders representing both donor and grantee organisations to discuss: How can we ensure equitable funding practices and donor-grantee relationships?
The result is an engaging frank and open conversation about what’s working in international development, what still needs to be urgently addressed – and how we can push for further progress.
