We worked with Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action (GAGGA) and Global Greengrants Fund (GGF) to design and execute a communication strategy for their collective commitment campaign “Roots Rising,” with the goal of influencing governments to commit $100 Million USD in flexible, multi-year, core support funding to gender-just climate action. The work included developing the campaign branding (which involved a series of branding workshops that we hosted in order to shape an identity based on the joint vision of members of both teams) as well as designing and implementing a communications strategy and finally delivering a launch event at COP28 in Dubai.
Problem
As GAGGA and GGF prepared to join forces to launch a new campaign at COP28 in December 2023 to rally governments and funders to support women-led and gender-focused climate initiatives, they needed support to shape the campaign brand identity, develop a communications strategy and prepare for the launch event.

Approach
We led a series of collaborative branding workshops to shape a campaign name and identity based on the two teams’ collective vision and crafted a brand guide. We created a landing page, digital and print assets, communications strategy and supported the launch event.
Outcomes
We helped GAGGA and GGF to successfully conceptualise and launch their Roots Rising campaign in Dubai at COP28 in December 2023. This included producing an interactive workshop for decision-makers, funders and grassroots groups to come together and define the direction of the campaign. We continue to work with campaign partners as they recruit Roots Rising Champions to commit to its vision.
