An evaluation was undertaken to assess the effectiveness and impact of MenEngage Alliance’s strategic plan for 2021-2024. This evaluation aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current strategic framework and identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.
Problem
The MenEngage Alliance, dedicated to promoting gender equality and preventing violence, faces challenges in demonstrating the full value of its network and strategic initiatives, especially to donors. Despite ongoing efforts, there is a need for a detailed evaluation to guide future planning, address gaps and ensure that the strategic objectives align with the needs and expectations of stakeholders.
Objectives
To evaluate the effectiveness of MenEngage’s strategic plan through detailed consultations and other pathways in order to effectively document and analyse the work and impact of the Alliance, identifying key strengths and gaps.
Approach
This evaluation employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods to provide a thorough assessment of MenEngage’s strategic plan. The quantitative component includes a survey designed around the MenEngage Results Framework, collecting responses from Alliance members, donors and stakeholders. The qualitative component involves observations, desk reviews, semi-structured interviews and focus groups, providing rich, detailed content and contextual insights. Data triangulation ensured the reliability and depth of the findings, enhancing the overall understanding of the strategic plan’s impact.
Outcomes
The evaluation has resulted in an initial set of data and insights that provides a solid foundation for continued assessment and strategic enhancement, positioning MenEngage Alliance for sustained impact and growth.
