Co-Impact

Partnerships Strategies Gender
We provided day-to-day communications support while orchestrating the launch of the Gender Fund, which has raised over $400 million USD for Co-Impact, strategically bridging philanthropic and grassroots sectors.

Co-Impact is a donor collaborative focused on systems change. We worked with them for four years to support the full breadth of their communications needs. Much of this work focused on the development and launch of the Gender Fund – with an ambition to raise and grant $1 billion USD to advance gender equality.

Problem

Co-Impact needed additional capacity for their Advocacy & Communications team to support the breadth of their communications needs: from daily social media content, to brand development of the Gender Fund, writing, design, research, event support and beyond. They needed a team to help them shape their narrative and provide 360 support during a critical time in their org development.

Objectives

Provide plug in support to the Advocacy and Communications team around major organisational milestones.

Approach

We became an extension of the A&C team working into the executive team across departments to understand needs in each division and develop process for managing comms requests and robust workplans for major events in the calendar to ensure effective management of larger scale strategy projects.

Outcomes
  • We conducted a comprehensive market analysis to identify potential donors and categorise philanthropists based on giving patterns and levels to inform our approach to comms and engagement with this audience.
  • We developed a communications strategy to guide how we engage with key audience groups and supported the client in delivering ongoing donor focused communications including talking points, presentations, panel discussions, content plans and email programmes.
  • We oversaw the launch of the Gender Fund and managed supplier relations including videographers, web developers, designers and provided on the ground support for launch events.
  • We developed a digital comms strategy and managed all digital communications resulting in over 200% increase in followers and 800% increase in engagement over a 2 year period.
  • We conducted comprehensive stakeholder consultations including interviews with over 80 gender experts and activists to inform the fund’s model and produced a report summarising the findings of this process.
