Description & Selection Criteria 

The Programme Manager will oversee the programmatic work of APWLD and will supervise and work closely with six programmes in particular, which include Feminist Development Justice, Grounding the Global, Women Interrogating Trade & Corporate Hegemony and Climate Justice, Crises and Women’s Human Rights and Information and Communications.

The Programme Manager plays a key role in ensuring the programmes are developing capacities, producing and disseminating feminist analyses, conducting advocacy and fostering networks and spaces for movement building to claim and strengthen women’s human rights and Development Justice.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of women’s human rights in Asia and the Pacific.
  • In depth understanding and knowledge on political, economic and socio-cultural environments in the region and its impact on women’s human rights.
  • Minimum Eight  (8) years experience in development work, women’s human rights and/or social movements at the national, regional or international level with at least three (3) years of Managerial experience. 
  • Proven experience of advocacy and political networking with exposure to global and regional multilateral mechanisms and processes.
  • Experience in working with a movement-based organisation such as feminist movements, indigenous peoples, farmers, migrants, workers, fisherfolk, Dalits, LBTQI or other movements is an asset.
  • A degree in social and political science, law, human rights, development or women’s studies.
  • Experience in research skills, and capacity to analyse and critique economic, social and development policies.
  • Strong coordination and management skills both within and across teams.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple programmes and budgets with strong Knowledge of project management such as programme and budget planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, membership-driven network and its allies.
  • Excellent command of English language, both oral and written; demonstrated ability to write for movements as well as programme reports and project proposals.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to network in a multicultural environment and to develop strong professional relationships with members and other stakeholders.
  • Proficient ICT, writing and editing skills including the ability to coordinate publication work from programme content to production work in various forms and media. Familiarity in using online shared platforms such as Google Suite is preferred.
  • Must be able to travel overseas as required.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Deputy Regional Coordinator, Regional Coordinator and other managers for regular conversations, monitoring and assessment of APWLD’s strategic directions and institutional sustainability.
  • Oversees strategic planning, implementation and monitoring of assigned programmes’  work plans, initiatives and budgets.
  • Supervises Programme staff by conducting regular check-in and coordinates with Programme staff to provide guidance, support and ensure accountability.
  • Facilitates the production of APWLD’s impact, annual and donor reports.
  • Leads implementation of monitoring, evaluation and learning (M,E&L) strategies for APWLD programme plans and priorities
  • Supports cross-cutting work and institutional initiatives.

Remuneration & Compensation

Salary for this role is 2,500 USD per month. Other benefits include monthly office allowance (130 USD), health allowance and insurance; contributions to the employee provident fund; and 13th month salary. This is a full-time position with a two-year (renewable) contract; and a probationary period of four months applies. Staff will be based and work from her home country.
