The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is recruiting an Egypt-based research consultant (or company) to review the profile and needs of Egyptian women entrepreneurs, the financial and non-financial barriers they face, and how HerVenture could be used to overcome these barriers. The consultant will also conduct a competitor analysis to assess what other similar tools exist (if any) to support women entrepreneurs, and identify opportunities for HerVenture to complement them.

To deliver this research, the consultant will conduct a combination of primary and secondary research.

Specifically, they will develop the below in consultation with the Foundation:  

Conduct desk research to review available data on women entrepreneurship in Egypt and develop an overview of women-led MSMEs in Egypt.
Identify relevant stakeholders for phone interviews to complement the desk research. These may include, but are not limited to: women entrepreneurs, business support organisations, public, private and non-profit sectors, including financial institutions and key market actors.
Develop a survey approach, including a number of survey participants.
Develop a sampling strategy.
Develop a questionnaire for women MSME surveys.
Facilitate data collection and analysis process and summarize the results and outlining survey outcome.

The ideal collaborator would have:
Experience of designing market research studies on women’s economic empowerment projects and delivering results in English.
In-depth expertise in women’s empowerment in developing and emerging economies, in particular Egypt.
Competencies in data collection and analysis using quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Previous experience or understanding of financial inclusion with regard to the target segment.
